The Course Settings page allows lecturers to customize various aspects of their courses and manage integrations with online platforms such as USJ Moodle and Google Classroom. This central location provides access to essential configuration options to tailor the course experience for both lecturers and students.

Overview

  • Import: Import syllabus from an existing course taught by you.
  • Integration Management: Enable or configure integrations with USJ Moodle and Google Classroom, including:
    • Linking or unlinking external platforms
    • Syncing student rosters
    • Setting up grade import/export (where available)

How It Works

Settings applied here affect how your course interacts with integrated platforms:

  • USJ Moodle: Integration settings allow for automatic roster synchronization and, in future updates, grade import from Moodle.
  • Google Classroom: Manage the connection to Google Classroom, ensuring rosters and assignments are kept up to date.

Import Settings

The Import feature allows you to copy content from your previous courses into your current course. This can save significant time when setting up similar courses across different semesters.

What Can Be Imported

  • Syllabus: Import the complete syllabus structure including:
    • Course objectives
    • Learning outcomes
    • Weekly topics
    • Required readings
    • Assessment components

Import Process

  1. Navigate to Course Settings
  2. Select the “Import” tab
  3. Choose a source course from your previous courses
  4. Select the content components you wish to import
  5. Review and confirm the import

Important Notes

  • Only courses you have previously taught will be available as source courses
  • Imported content can be modified after import
  • Student data and grades are never imported
  • Existing content will be overwritten

Google Classroom Settings

The Google Classroom integration allows you to create and manage a linked Google Classroom directly from MyUSJ. This seamless integration helps streamline course management and student roster synchronization.

Creating a New Google Classroom

  1. Navigate to Course Settings
  2. Select the “Google Classroom” tab
  3. Click the “Create Course” button
  4. A new Google Classroom will be automatically created with:
    • The same course name as your MyUSJ course
    • Your current student roster
    • You as the primary instructor

Important Notes

  • The newly created Google Classroom will be automatically linked to your MyUSJ course
  • Student rosters will sync automatically when changes occur in MyUSJ
  • The system will automatically use your currently logged in Google account to create the classroom
  • Only one Google Classroom can be linked to a MyUSJ course at a time

USJ Moodle Settings

The USJ Moodle integration enables you to create and manage a Moodle course directly from MyUSJ. This integration facilitates seamless course management and ensures student enrollment stays synchronized between platforms.

Creating a New Moodle Course

  1. Navigate to Course Settings
  2. Select the “USJ Moodle” tab
  3. Click the “Create Moodle” button
  4. A new Moodle course will be automatically created with:
    • The same course name and code as your MyUSJ course
    • Your current student roster synchronized
    • You assigned as the course instructor
    • Default course template and structure

Important Notes

  • The newly created Moodle course will be automatically linked to your MyUSJ course

  • Only one Moodle course can be linked to a MyUSJ course at a time

  • Course content and materials must be added directly in the Moodle platform

  • Future updates will support grade synchronization from Moodle to MyUSJ
